World Laughter Day was actually created by Dr Madan Kataria, who is the founder of the worldwide laughter yoga movement in the year 1998. It is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of May every year. The objective behind the celebration of laughter day is to promote world peace and develop consciousness of brotherhood and friendship through laughter.
