If you research about the qualities that are common among most of the successful entrepreneurs, leaders or the philosophers and thinkers ever lived in the past, you will find one thing in common and that is the use of their subconscious mind. All these philosophers and thinkers in the past have identified the significance of their thoughts and most importantly they found a way to train their subconscious mind.
Human beings are gifted with one yet powerful mind. Though everything begins with the thought that emanates from our mind, We often fail to recognize how it can create miracles in life.
What is the subconscious mind?
Though we all are having one mind, but all of us are gifted with the duality of mind. This duality of mind is in fact gift to humanity. This duality of mind is given different names like: objective mind, subjective mind; voluntary mind, involuntary mind; conscious mind and subconscious mind. Of course, the terminology might differ but the basic functionality of mind remains the same. For our convenience, we will go with the terms Conscious and Subconscious mind.
The subconscious mind is like a warehouse that stores most of our life events and experiences we have had over the period of time. The Subconscious mind is divine, potent, powerful and capable of manifesting desires and goals. It doesn’t rely on reasoning and logic, unlike the conscious mind. The most important problem confronting human beings today is that we give so much of attention to the conscious mind that we often forget about the hidden treasure that is still waiting to be identified and awakened.
What’s the difference between the conscious mind and the Subconscious mind?
Firstly, let us try to understand the basic difference between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind.
As discussed earlier, we all are having one mind but the character and functionality are dual i.e., conscious mind and subconscious mind. To put it in simple words, a conscious mind is always active and is based on logic and reasoning and hence it can be termed as a finite (limited) mind. on the contrary, the subconscious mind is an infinite mind that has no limitations. It is not based on logical reasoning to argue about the limitations, capabilities, and probabilities and hence it can be termed as a divine infinite – a mind that has no boundaries and is not based on logical reasoning.
How the Subconscious mind influences your life?
As discussed above the subconscious mind is not based on logic and reasoning. It accepts everything that is instructed to it. It has no limitations. What you think, affirm or say to your conscious mind continuously over a period of time, your subconscious mind accepts it as a fact. It doesn’t question.
Consider looking at the following questions:
- My life sucks
- I am not worth it.
- I am not lucky enough.
- It doesn’t favor me.
- However hard I try, I will still not be rewarded.
- Life only favors the rich and powerful people.
- Money doesn’t grow on trees.
- It’s a sin to think about money.
- I was just born to make a living.
- Only rich people are powerful and they deserve to lead a happy and luxurious life.
If you are constantly thinking and saying these words and sentences to yourself – then you are saying this consciously using your logic and conscious mind and repeating this often seeps deeply into your subconscious mind. When these thoughts seep deeply into your subconscious mind it accepts it without arguing and without reasoning. Then you end up with what you feel, think and say.
What can be done to train the Subconscious mind?
Observe your thoughts:
The best approach to begin to train your subconscious mind is to acknowledge the existence of negative self-talk. We are so conscious about everything and we think everything in terms of logic, reasoning, and probabilities not realizing that most of these process could lead to negative chattering and self-talk by our conscious mind. Therefore, your job is to give positive self-talk consciously stating that your subconscious mind is divine and infinite and is capable of fulfilling your goals, aims, and aspirations. All you got to do is to replace your negative self-talk with that of positive self-talk.
An affirmation can be defined as the process of affirming a thought continuously over a period of time. Affirming a certain word, sentence, or thought over the period of time transforms itself into a belief. If you could look at people who have a strong belief in themselves, you might be wondering what makes their belief unwavering and strong, if so?, then you got to know this fact – They have used the power of affirmations to make their belief system stronger and powerful.
Visualization can create miracles in your life. Many a time, we hear people complaining that the use of affirmations has not reaped any benefits. These people often complain about the ineffectiveness of affirmations probably because they miss out on visualization.
Affirmations don’t work unless you use the creative force of visualization. If you have it in your mind, you’ll have it with you. Visualize as if you have the end result with you. Visualize as if the subconscious mind is in charge of delivering it to you. While visualizing a particular outcome, try to inculcate the habit of including all the senses if possible. Like for example, imagine what it looks like, how it smells like, how it feels like. Get into visualization state so deep that there is nothing else left but to manifest.
Activating feedback mechanism:
It’s generally a human tendency to attract negative things easily than positive things. So remember this – the more you think negatively, the more it gets absorbed in your subconscious mind. So, your basic job is to remind yourself every time you are encountered with a negative feeling that it’s going to be absorbed by your subconscious mind. Using this feedback mechanism for a certain period of time can help you transform the way you think and feel over a period of time.
Reflect twice daily:
Your Subconscious brain is at the best state at two times: 1) Just before sleep and 2) Just after you wake up. Every time you go to bed at night. Relax. Take a deep breath. Make yourselves comfortable. The preferable position is to lie down on your bed with ease and comfort. You can play soft music that pushes you into a drowsy state. Now visualize and start using affirmations for what you want to achieve. Keep repeating the affirmation along with the visual mental picture in your mind and continue to sleep. It’s okay to fall asleep. In fact, that’s how it’s recommended. While in the morning after you wake-up, use the affirmations along with the visualization to train your subconscious mind for a few minutes. You must also remember to involve the feelings and emotions of happiness and gratitude into it.
To sum it up, all the riches in your life are the results of your own thoughts. Understanding the functional process of mind and training can not only help you achieve your dreams and goals but it helps you lead a life filled with joy, peace, and purpose. Many successful entrepreneurs, leaders, and philosophers and scholars in the past have understood how thoughts become things by practicing the art of training the subconscious mind.
